Modern Courtyard Garden – Edwardian Property, Hitchin
Collaboration and Vision
A Garden Shaped by Partnership
Working alongside Catherine Payne of Flower & Stone, the House Gardens team was commissioned to create a Modern Courtyard Garden for an Edwardian property that had recently been extended. The courtyard design needed to reflect the same exceptional quality and attention to detail as the new interior spaces.
The project combined thoughtful landscaping with elegant planting to bring the outdoor space to life. Materials were carefully selected to complement the property’s architecture and included limestone paving, brickwork, clay pavers, integrated lighting, and an irrigation system.
A key feature of the planting scheme was the inclusion of pleached trees, providing both structure and privacy from a neighbouring pathway while enhancing the garden’s refined aesthetic.
The result is a harmonious, sophisticated courtyard that seamlessly extends the home’s style into the garden.
